Good starting points for your Liam - now start refining these questions into the ones that might grow into an inquiry... I like googling at this pint to see what others have said about the topics - and see if anyone else had similar interests on BAPP.
ReplyDeleteYour professional life is so busy - I would be interested to hear more about what you do in your workplace - strength as a dancer and choreography - can you be more explicit here? Image and dance ability - how does it work for you in terms of these issues? Are you interested in comparing that to how others perceive these issues?
Thanks very much for this advice.. It really did help me when defining my questions… It also has inspired me to do a blog reflecting on my year the problems I have had, which do relate to the questions above but also I want to focus on my strengths and the things that have gone well for me this year…
ReplyDeleteThanks again…
Hello liam,
ReplyDeleteIt was really interesting reading through your questions it seems we have a similar line of inquiry with regards to the professional performer and teacher. I have sooo much to say lol, firstly i believe there is no such thing as an age limit in this industry i have worked with many professional people who now teach and listening to their experiences is amazingly inspiring. This is something i wish to do in the future work professionally for as long as possible gaining as much knowledge and experience to then pass it on through my teaching by inspiring. I don't think teaching is an easy way out of performing if you have a huge passion for the industry you would like to think people like myself with to carry the industry on by sharing their experiences and opinions. Teaching should be a very rewarding thing. I wish to be a strong teacher in the future but who knows you can only try your best, surly as professionals we pick up skills that we can then use in the work place as a teacher. I have always thought about the degree question, i believe its not always about the qualifications, especially in this industry you could have trained for 3 years and get no where or have the perfect rhythm or look and get job after job, it's just pot luck but if you have that caring teaching within you why not try it. Social media is very helpful i believe, hopefully the more we work the more people we get to meet, which hopefully could lead to more work, i have found the use of networking very helpful for myself, just keep putting yourself out there to get you places. With regards to your last question i am torn i feel its just a bit of both, there can be jobs where your ability is key but also if the image fits then i am sure people would go to extreme lengths to get people's ability to the standard they require. ....Wow i feel i just blabbered on, but it just came from the heart lol i hope it makes sense. Please look over my blogg and feel free to comment. Best of luck.
