Profile (1a)

Liam Pentland I am a young confident and reliable individual with a mature attitude. I began dancing professionally when I was 17 appearing in music videos, TV commercials, Fashion shows etc. Through training at The Hammond as a professional dancer I have learnt to enjoy challenges, whilst keeping calm under pressure. I understand that life is one big learning curve, that never ends, but I believe I have a lot of useful knowledge now that I can pass on, and intend to. I am currently still working commercially and am teaching workshops internationally. *Have found writing about ymself very difficult, so I you could give me any feedback so i can improve this it would be apprciated!

My Passion

So, my passion is to create pieces of choreography/art that people can either relate to, or to make them understand my feelings or thoughts of an experience I have been through. I find choreography a good way to let out how I feel. Whether I find a song that I can relate to and create specific movements, that make sense to how I feel. Or it could be that I’m just in a good mood and want to find a song that matches that, and choreograph to it. As teaching is my main job to support me financially, along with some commercial work, I teach many classes per week, which means I have to do lots of choreography. I think this sometimes restricts my creativity as I sometimes really want to take my time on a piece of choreography, so that I fully get across how I feel and push my creativity to the maximum. Before I start teaching my choreography I usually explain to the people in my class, a little bit of what was going through my mind before I begin to teach anything. I never usual

1st Campus Session

On the 6 th February I travelled down to London to attend our first Campus session. I think I was more nervous about using the Tube in London than I was about our actual session, but I made it there. I personally felt the first task of the session, was to move the tables from the middle of the room to against the walls. Strangely enough I felt this task has related to this first module a lot. I remember not knowing why I was moving the tables but it’s what we got told to do, so I just did it. I think this applies to the course as we were told not to over think, but just to complete the tasks given and “go with the flow” so to speak. Honestly, this is where I’m at now. I am not familiar to this blog system and not too sure what to blog about, but looking at the tasks we were given in this campus session and looking through other people’s blogs, I feel I am gaining more knowledge from others which has consequently inspired me to write about the blogs I am and will be creating. I felt th

About Me :)

In September 2006, after I left school, I decided to attend Loreto college for 2 years and pursue my A - levels. After leaving school I was never too sure if I wanted a career in dance or not, as I knew if I was going to take this up, I would have to eat, sleep and breathe dance. In college, if I wasn’t in class I would be dancing in the studio and even sometimes when I should be in class, I would find myself in the dance studio (: / sorry mum). By the time I was in my second year at college, I knew I wanted to pursue dance as a career, so I started attending more technical classes and sending off applications for dance schools. In the same year I accepted a place at The Hammond dance school on Full Scholarship training in ballet, contemporary, tap, modern and street dance. Street dance has always been my first style of dance but The Hammond definitely opened my mind to these other genres as a dancer and choreographer. Over the last few years I have performed commercially appearing in
